Our Foster Carers.
Jo’s Story.
Meet Jo. Jo is a single foster carer living in rented accommodation.
Jo always wanted to be a foster carer. It was something she imagined doing once married with children, but as 40 approached she decided she wasn’t waiting any longer and to follow her heart!
Here’s Jo’s story....
I rented a property with a spare bedroom and applied for more information. Following my initial visit, I began the process of becoming approved. The process was over a period of about 6 months and I couldn’t wait for it to be official.
Having my first placement was amazing! Knowing I was finally making a difference to a little life was an incredible feeling. It was what I had imagined but better - it threw the odd curveball and challenge but overall was a great experience. Saying goodbye was one of the toughest things I’ve ever faced but I’d always said I was willing for my heart to be broken, for a child’s forever!
The biggest rewards are seeing new families formed and the joy that brings. You get as much out of fostering as you put in! Being committed to changing the lives of vulnerable children is so fulfilling, especially when you see the positive changes in them.
“I would encourage anyone even considering fostering to explore it further. It may be the most rewarding thing you ever decide to do. Fostering is a privilege!”
